As long as you are awake,
Strive for this with a one-pointed mind;
Your life will bring heaven to earth.
Make an island of yourself,
make yourself your refuge;
there is no other refuge.
Make truth your island,
make truth your refuge;
there is no other refuge.
Through initiative, heedfulness,
restraint, & self-control,
the wise would make an island
no flood can submerge.
One consummate in virtue & vision,
judicious,
speaking the truth,
doing his own task:
the world holds him dear.
